The management solutions we develop for our clients invoke the design process too.  We apply creativity and innovation to design and implement effective change for organizations and their business processes.

Strategic Management

We apply creativity and innovation to design and implement effective change for organizations and their business processes.

We specialize in the more challenging cross-cutting objectives. Clarity of the mission and the vision of the organization must be supported with effective planning, processes and leadership to achieve those objectives. We have a large breadth of experience to bring strategic change to your business.

We can help you determine where you are now, where you want to go, and then support you relentlessly in getting there

  1. Business Process Improvement
In defining processes, and needed improvements, sharp clarity of accountabilities, responsibilities and which staff must be consulted vs. informed is essential to achieving an objective. These elements are applicable to the various organizations involved in the project as well as individuals on the project. The definition of the roles each plays in the execution of a project must be defined, coached and managed. Our goal is to ultimately create a high performance team able to self-sustain in future objectives.
  2. Organizational Alignment
Many organizations have or will re-engineer their business processes. We excel at helping align this re-engineering to your business objectives.  We ensure that what is required is no more and no less, and then employ change management and leadership to make the transition.  The latter, leadership, is most important since it is ultimately how we support people – as individuals and as groups – work towards effective change within organizations.

IP Protection & Exploitation

Intellectual Property (IP) Protection & Exploitation
From individual inventors to venture firms, we provide expertise in the development of new ideas and innovations.Intellectual property (IP) is an intangible asset of a company or individual related to technical know-how or innovation. IP can include

  • Discoveries
  • Inventions
  • Designs
  • Proprietary Information
  • Works of Authorship and Software

Protection of this property against use by others can be obtained, depending on the nature of the IP, through

  • Patents
  • Trademarks
  • Copyrights
  • Trade Secrets

In the technology management arena, IP protection is a critically necessary first step; however, IP exploitation is the only way to realize the value of the IP. Exploitation is achieved either through direct use of the IP on the part of the inventor, or licensing of the IP for another’s use in exchange for royalties. ADC is experienced in both IP protection and exploitation.

  • Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights
Patents, trademarks, and copyrights are administered by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. ADC maintains close collaboration with several patent attorneys who normally handle any required patent or trademark legal needs for our client projects -Link to USPTO http://www.uspto.gov/
  • Licensing
Licensing is the granting of permission to another to make, use or sell a product that is patent protected.  Licenses are normally negotiated to convey these rights in exchange for consideration such as a royalty payment for each patented product made or sold.  ADC has a good deal of experience in the licensing arena.  We often draw on our patent attorney’s expertise as well.

Technology Transfer

Federal legislation, known as the Technology Transfer Act of 1986, promotes private sector commercialization of innovations created in both the Federal and University research enterprise.  ADC is uniquely qualified to offer support in this arena.  As technology management consultants and engineers, we are skilled in the practice of technology commercialization.

  • Federal Agency Support
The combination of our business and technical expertise and a sound understanding of the enabling Technology Transfer legislation has allowed us to develop proven service capabilities in this arena. We routinely assist Federal agencies in leveraging their intellectual property into effective partnerships with the private sector through the marketing, development, and execution of CRADAs and patent licenses. Moving innovations into commercialization serves to maximize the return on the Federal investment, while simultaneously stimulating economic growth in the private sector. We can support an agency and its researchers with individual projects or assist in the development or enhancement of an entire program. Successful technology transfer activities are highly dependent on building effective relationships. Process development alone is not enough. As a people-oriented firm, critical relationship building is something we do very effectively. We think the combination of people and process that we cultivate creates a compelling service proposition for our clients.
  • University Support
Our Federal experience is directly applicable to supporting University technology transfer offices.  We can come up to speed quickly on a particular office’s process and procedures.  From there, we apply the same set of technology, people and business skills used in the Federal sector  We can be counted on to forge effective, engaged relationships with the research faculty.  We are comfortable and successful coaching and inspiring researchers who are new to the process.

Project Management

We have a wealth of experience in the field of project management.  However, we take it further by practicing program leadership.  We are in the trenches with your staff solving the day to day problems of project execution.  We do this through planning, decisiveness and clear communication.  Our experience includes managing local teams and well as the more challenging management of virtual teams.  We can be relied on for providing operational expertise in the follow program management areas
